Designer Marianne Brandt studied painting and sculpture the Weimar Hochschule in Germany and was the only woman who took part in the Metallwerkstatt of the Bauhaus. Her objects are a splendid example of her research to simplify the industrial processes of spinning and printing. The 90100 two-piece ashtray in mirrored polished steel is produced under licence of the Bauhaus-Archiv in Berlin. Manufactured by Alessi.Designed in 1985.

Launched in 1967 the Stelton Cylinda Line made an immediate splash. The simplicity of its cylindrical shapes and specially designed plastic handles characterized the series which with its brushed steel surfaces stood in striking contrast to the highly polished curves of its day. The Cylinda Line was awarded the ID-prize in 1967 by The Danish Society of Industrial Design and the International Design Award in 1968 by The American Institute of Interior Designers.
