Around march 2021 I started trying to build my own Open wheel add-on for the Thrustmaster T300 RS GT. After some testing, this is the result. The basplate is 3 mm thick lasercut aluminium, the handles are PLA. I used M4x25 bolts and nuth to attach the handles. Depending on the make of the screw, it is possible the length fits perfect in the handles, but with an other make I had to shorten the screws a mm or so to fit perfectly. With this aluminium plate the weight of the complete steering wheel was reduced with 526 grams (see pictures above). This download includes the handles and the baseplate. The baseplate comes in DXF and in STL (for printing). The handles need support to print. Important: I do not use a printed baseplate, but I have seen many wheels that are completely printed. In case you have no acces to a lasercutter (or waterjet, or plasmacutter, ), but you still want to give it a shot, you can print the basplate. The STL file from the baseplate is 3 mm thick. In your slicer you can resize it to your chosen thickness. Some wheels I have seen on the web, are often printed with a 5 mm thickness.
